Who doesn't want to see Poland as fillar of West?

18.07.05, 07:18
What other nation has contributed so much to western civilization without
claiming" a bragging rights"? Why do people prefer to recall Italian Gallileo
who only based his teory and followed Pole Nicolaus Copernicus discovery of
the solar system?
Why do we hear more about "correctness and order"of Mozart and Bach music
instead of the versitality and musical soul of Frederic Chopin?
Why do Polish scientist Maria Curie invents rad and polon and doesn't make a
cent from establishing new and revolucionary fiels of science-radioactivity
and nuclear field?
Why do Poland's matematicians break Nazi Germany coding machine ENIGMA and
now British and Americans claim that they have supposedly "captured" it 10
years later...ha ha
Or Jan Szczepanics invention of the prototype of modern tv set, or his
invention of color film, which was later used by Kodaks in establising it's
empire...

Walduś, have you forgotten to refill your prescription? Or something?
      • waldek1610 Re: Who doesn't want to see Poland as fillar of 18.07.05, 07:52
Yes, I do need antidote for others' ignorance, please.

I don't think it's ignorance, Waldek. We got jobs, kids, things to do. There is
only so many hours in a day to go into some never ending debates on this forum.
Most of them end up in nasties, snapping at each other and a lot of hot air
          frankly.
          You work?
          • waldek1610 Projecting negative image.. 18.07.05, 08:55
Yes, I do work, as a matter of fact I'm at work right now.
I feel you Kylie, everybody has to work..except Prince William maybe.
But, I'm not talking here about regular people here, I'm refering to think tank
people, politicians, media people involved in creating images of Poland, for
example when I watch BBC-European Report on Poland, I think they are talking
            about some rular country.
I wonder why do British corespondents when reporting from Poland always seem to
stand in a front of some country hut or a communist area bulding? Instead of
the new Warsaw Skyscrapers, which you find more in Warsaw than even in
            London...

                what's the matter?
you can see the boy's a patriot.
he loves his country very, very, very much.

                BTW, fillar?
                you mean filler, right.
like inside a paczek or a Danish, for example.

No, that's filling. I think what he meant was "killer" as in "dressed to kill" or "make a killing".

Or maybe not. Now I'm confused...

.... to uzyj slowa "pillar" tak jak "pillar of strength" np. ostoja ....My

                    passed away...szloch, chlip!
a filar wladzy i wiary? A pillar of authority and faith, och/oh, jakie to nadete!

                  Erwas,
I'm glad that you can't tell patriot from spammer, nazi, biggot, or
impotent...A lot of people have a problem telling those appart. I apreciate
                  that!!!
Here in US everybody can say they are proud of being Americans, on the other
hand in European countries God forbid that you even mention your country in a
positive way...you will be labeled "ultra-nationalist".

OK. but there is nothing filthy about Waldek. He is all right.

For all those that are not familiar with everyday English used in America; the
frase "I feel you" simply means: I symphatise, I understand you pain..
I should not have used coloquial American.
                        • kylie1 Re: I feel you... 21.07.05, 08:19
Wherabouts in US do they say that, Waldek? Shouldn't that be "I feel for you",
                          instead?
                          :)
                          • waldek1610 Re: I feel you... 21.07.05, 10:09
Nope, I hear that frase a lot around here.I guess it's the abbreviated version,
propably started with the black and hispanics but everybody started using "I
                            feel you"...
Whereabouts I heard that: in the burbs of Chicago, and elsewhere..

[...Why do Polish scientist Maria Curie invents rad and polon and doesn't make

Maybe because she did not invent anything. She *discovered* radium and
polonium. Would you expect her to make a fortune from selling radioactive
      materials?
      ;)
      • waldek1610 Re: Who doesn't want to see Poland as fillar of 21.07.05, 10:16
Because she thought it was against the scientist morality, she thought
scientist should work for the common good and should not make profits.
No, dummie. she wouldn't sell radioactive materials, because she did not run
the Nuclear reactor. But her discovery would be worth billions of US $ in
        todays money.
        • deadeasy Re: Who doesn't want to see Poland as fillar of 21.07.05, 10:56
You are right there "today'S money". I bet the Americans would put her
discovery to good use - damn! they have already done so!

[...Because she thought it was against the scientist morality, she thought
scientist should work for the common good and should not make profits.] - you
know the answer to your own question...

PS: "Dummie" - are you refering to me? Call your fellow Americans that.
Before you come slagging off Europeans have a look at your own backyard. For
your information, Chopin's music is popular over here (with classical music
lovers). Maybe the news about Mrs Curie and Mr Chopin did not reach America
yet. Keep up on the good work, spread the word.

nice try Deadwrong or whatever you call yourself. Of course they have already
used HER discovery 100 years ago, to make it clear for you let's use millions
of US dollars, in place of "billions of today's $. By the way although I carry
US citizenship and been in US military, I'm also Polish citizen.
