Can anyone say something about the differences between the two exams?

            I don't think so.
There is a huge difference between FCE and CAE, but CAE - CPE ...
            I don't agree.

Huge diffrence! I passed CAE years ago and since that I've been trying to
prepare to CPE. I just can't. I understand the texts, the vocabulary etc but
somehow I can't do more than 70% of a test. What is the problem? Do u think it
is not possible to prepare to CPE without a teacher (as I did with CAE)?

CPE is much more difficult (or so I heard) and it makes you more employable (if
that's the word and probably it isn't). You can teach English at universities
(while with CAE - only in secondary schools) and it costs more.

But does it matter which grade? Can I ba a university teacher with CPE grade C?

          I think so.

The difference between FCE and CAE is much greater than CAE and CPE.

CP like any other exam requires some preparation and perspiration, but really,
        nothing more:)

yeah "some preparations" and nothing else...try it my friend and i`m sure
          you`re gonna pass it...:)

actually, I did, I passed CP last June, and got a wonderful B:) Before the exam
I spent a lot of time prepareing for it, and before the results came I gave off
lots of sweat.. But then, it was worth the effort!

yeah, so decide yourself if it was "a lot" or "some" work :)

I've taken all three and I believe that the biggest difference is between FCE
and CAE. CPE will test your ability to used advanced structurea as well as
your accuracy in expressing your thoughts. It is full of phrasal verbs and
fixed phrases. If you read much and try to maintain a constant contact with
the language- you shouldn't have big trubles in passing. Of course it needs
                preparation as well ;)

As far as I know the main difference between these two exams is the level of
vocabulary. The multiple choice questions usually give four words or
expressions very similar in meaning (with the difference being in how they
collocate). Besides, the reading tasks are more difficult: you have to answer
questions concerning the texts which include very sophisticated vocabulary: the
questions very often relate not to particuler information from the text but to
general message for example: "what did the author mean by..."?

you don't stand the slightest chance of being familiar with all the words you
get as possible multiple-choice answers. They don't test your vocabulary as
such, they test your ability to predict and your sense of the language. Reading
isn't really that smashing, but it is true, that some question requiring
understanding the general idea or asking you to gerneralize sth may be more
        than hard.
