Guess, of what ingrediens can cosist bread crumbs? You will surely answer -
of bread crumbs. Well, everywhere except America. See the following example:

Ingredients: enriched bread (enriched wheat flour, malted barley, niacin,
ferrous sulfate, thiamine mononitrate, riboflavin, folic acid, water, high
fructose corn syrup, corn syrup, partially hydrogenated vegetable oil)
(soybean and/or cottonseed oil and/or canola and corn oils). May contain
salt, yeast, sugar, honey, sesame and/or poppy seeds, molasses, wheat gluten,
whey, soy flour, whole wheat flour, rye flour, oat bran, corn flour, corn
meal, rice flour, potato flour, potato flour, butter, skim milk, buttermilk,
lactic acid, distilled vinegar, soy lecithin; dough conditioners (mono and
diglycerides, sodium and/or calcium stearoyl lactylate), yeast nutrients
(contains one or more of the following: monocalcium phosphate, potassium
bromate, calcium sulfate, ammonium sulfate); calcium propionate
(preservative), potassium sorbate (preservative).

One can get a reverse appetite.

By the way: Americans are extremly proud that they reduced fat to zero per
cent in any food-stuff. In spite of that they are putting a lot of substances
to food-stuff to enrich them. I've never seen anywhere such obese people like
in Americe. And it is - no doubt - due to enriched food and extremly sweet
cakes. They put corn syrup to every possible food-stuff.

Do you agree with my opinion?

it is not so much what they eat, it is how much of it they eat. Americans tuck
in to giant meals. restaurant portions are often alarmingly large. and yes, you
are right: everything is sweet icluding bread. it takes a serious search to
find a loaf without the word HONEY headlinimg it.

Is there a link between a high content of sugar in the nation's diet and the
state of affairs in their bedrooms, I wonder?
What's wrong with the choc-free natural endorphins?

Or to be more precise most people here get more
calories (or rather joules) than they can burn.
It does not matter whether you eat fat or not.
You will get overwieight even if you eat only carbohydrates.
Obesity is a huge problem here. I've recently heard
that 60% of the population in the US is overweight
        and nearly 1/5 is obese.
More children are obese now than ever before.

well, bread is all carbohydrates, so it really does not
matter if it contains small amounts of honey or not.
At least as far as the energy intake concerned.
After all starch is a polymer of glucose, so they
essentialy have the same energy content.
The taste is different, of course.
And yes, you CAN get good bread in the US.
European or asian, whatever you like.
You just need to know where to buy it.

I think that soft drinks are big problem too.
Half of them (non-diet varieties) contain massive
amount of sugar. And Americans chug them by gallons.

I know, beer is bad too :-(

In my opinion the point is that people don't keep proportions between
          protein : fat : carbohyfrates.

Siur na mur! You are right. In addition to that carbohydrates (excessive
consumption) are to be blamed too.

          Well, excessive consumption of _anything_
(including water) is bad. If it has calories
and if you drive your ass around all the time
          you WILL get fat.
          Carbohydrates or no carbohydrates.
It is the calories that count, well joules, of course.
If you eat a lot and want to maintain your weight
you need to somehow use this energy.
I realize that it is easier said than done.

The lesson to be learned from this?

When in America, do not read what you eat. Or you will starve...

declaring the fat content and get your calorie-busting kick out of that,

another thing is, it does taste a bit naff, the American cuisine. I'm afraid
the same is true for the English, not much for a gourmet ...

I'm not interested in junk food. Fitness is a must.
