We must be serious about fighting terrorism

20.02.03, 19:52
We must be serious about fighting terrorism and therefore we must address the
situation in the Middle East FIRST. Up to this point, despite being in
position to do something about it, we are not only ignoring the issue but
making it worse. Our policy in the Middle East is out of character and
shameful.

What is shameful is that country like ours which is looked up to by the world
as an icon of democracy continuously denies a group of people independence
and the right to self determination. US, despite numerous efforts by UN,
continuously Vetoes any resolution which would give Palestinians the right to
exist. On top, we give Israel who occupies land which was never given to
them, land which they took by force, land beyond the original borders of
Israel, huge amount of money with out which Israel could not exist. We
support a country which between 1955 and 1992 64 times defied UN resolutions.
This is what USA STANDS for?

We should condemn Palestinian extremists responsible for terrorist activities
in this part of the world, however, we can't demand from none existing
country, country who we refuse to acknowledge, who we refuse to give power
and control to take care of this problem. Palestinians deserve, like we did
at the origin of our country, a right to self determination and the right to
their own country. Only then we can demand from Palestinians, through UN, to
take responsibility for harboring extremists. Until then we are wasting our
time with this fake war on terrorism.

The New York Time, February 23, 2003, cutting:

`Power and Leadership: The Real Meaning of Iraq
      [...]
Saddam Hussein is nobody's hero in this story. Although
many Americans are puzzled about why the Bush
administration chose to pick this fight now, it's not
surprising that in the wake of Sept. 11, the president
would want to make the world safer, and that one of his
top priorities would be eliminating Iraq's ability to
create biological, chemical and nuclear weapons. Of all
the military powers in the world, Iraq is the one that
has twice invaded its neighbors without provocation and
that has used chemical weapons both on its military foes
and some of its own restive people. North Korea may be a
greater danger, but North Korea has not been told by the
United Nations to disarm and stay disarmed. And, although
the administration is careful to steer clear of this
argument, the very fact that North Korea has the
international community in a bind is a cautionary tale
for making sure that no other despotic governments run by
irrational adventurers get hold of nuclear arms.[...]´

Netanyahu's nephew faces the full court marshall today. Spare a thought for
