      Try:
      www.eslcafe.com
      www.world-english.org
      www.everythingesl.net
      They're all pretty interesting.

P.S. The first two are mostly for students. The last for teachers.
There are hundreds of good sites out there.

The fact is that educated native speakers of ANY language don't generally make
mistakes with either grammar or vocabulary usage. If these people make mistakes
        they'd be typos.

Whereas I've found many mistakes in EVERY Polish site I've ever looked at (
including the one 'pandit' is always trying to advertise!). I'm happy to point
them out for a fee. Actually as most of their content is based around Polish I
suppose they're aimed at beginners anyway? If this is the case, then fine.

I have had a lot of first-hand exposure to native speakers and know that my
knowledge and use of English could never match a native speaker. Unfortunately
the people who run these Polish sites often appear to have much worse English
than me! So what kind of model do Polish sites offer ...

Polish sites might be fine for beginners, but that's all.

For anyone above pre-intermediate you should be looking at the kind of sites
already mentioned (non-Polish!). I've used them all and I'd say that it is
these sites and other non-Polish sites which have helped my English. I NEVER
VISIT POLISH SITES and I suppose most advanced users of English also steer
        clear of them.

What non-polish sites do you have in mind? Can you give me some examples?
          Thanks

      floe-joe.co.uk

      but why non-Polish?

Probably because most Polish sites are less than perfect. Given a choice
between a site run from a native speaking country and any country where the
language is a foreign language, the choice is clear.

Native speakers REALLY know their own language. We can never hope to match
        their knowledge.

        Sad but true!

This is not necessarily so. The real difference is how much the site cares and
how much effort/money is willing to spend on quality. Polish sites employ
natives as well, and foreign sites quite often are not that good at teaching
          ESL.

I used e.g. www.flo-joe.co.uk CPE tests for my class, and I must say
that even though the very site is really nice, I had to stop - there were
mistakes too!!! And quite many of them, especially in readings. Naturally,
natives make different mistakes than non-natives. Usually these were typing
errors or spelling mistakes - sometimes very confusing though.

This is not true that there are no good sites on English in Poland -
www.angielski.edu.pl has the lead, but there are also
www.anglisci.pl, or www.filo.pl, which are fine as well I guess!

Thanks for the suggestions. They're all rather nice - even the Polish ones!

Has anyone tried the incredibly hard listening competition at:
      www.anglik.net/soundfile.htm
      Is it really English?

        It's RP from the 1940s or 1950s.

        EASY!

          RP - yes
          1940s - probably
          Easy - no.

I was fortunate enough to win last month's listening competition, and I think
that one was harder than this one ...
