...no criticism was intended...the problem is...my gibberish is far superior to
my other linguistic accomplishments...anyway...why not try google?...far more
          reliable than yours truly...

Sounds to me like you are doing a translation that someone is paying you for,
and you are propping yourself up with a freebie advice worldwide. That's a
cost of being over-ambitious and maybe greedy? Also, humble politeness might
be slightly more productive. Does 'don't bite the hand that feeds you' ring a
          bell? No sympathy here.

Why don't you try your hand at translating some yob culture bible - clearly
your linguistic expertise belongs elsewhere, ie beyond the science of
respiration to say the least. Don't arrest!

and what do you do for a living cleaning toilets overboard ?
                    • Gość: steph Do poziomki IP: *.in-addr.btopenworld.com 12.11.03, 23:32
Stick to your stereotypes if it makes you happy. Stories of toilet cleaning in
the West have always been staple diet back home and clearly not a lot has
changed. Personally, have no experience so can't offer any advice. Sorry.Try
broadening your horizons, though admittedly, you might find it painful. But,
as they say, no pain - no gain.

...and what's wrong with cleaning the toilets?...do any of you dummkopfs ever
think that without the toil of us, the toilet cleaners you would have drowned
in your own shit?...The Toilet Cleaners of All Countries Unite!!!...

      to moze ja sprobuje pomoc:
      citrate-cytrynian
      decarboxylation - usuwanie dwutlenku wegla
tego pierwszego slowa nie chce zgadywac, bo chemie mialam juz dosyc dawno temu
wiec teraz mi sie troche te nazwy mieszaja.
Ale przejdz sie do biblioteki/empiku/ksiegarni i sprawdz w slowniku ang-pol
(chemicznym) niedawno zostal wydany wiec nie powinno byc problemow ze
      znalezieniem go.

How about oxidative phosphorylation does it have anything to do with lancuch
      oddechowy?
    • Gość: Michelle Re: help again ! IP: *.poznan.cvx.ppp.tpnet.pl 12.11.03, 23:28
      Hi again!
      oxidative phosphorylation = fosforylacja oksydacyjna
      decarboxylation = dekarboksylacja (=odszczepienie CO2 z cząsteczki kwasu
      organicznego)
Take my advice - don't shout at people, just ignore them.
      M.

For future reference, you'll find the lot in:
        Slownik Lekarski Angielsko-Polski
        Przemyslaw Slomski
        Panstwowy Zaklad Wydawnictw Lekarskich
        Warszawa 1991

        • Gość: steph Re: help again ! IP: *.in-addr.btopenworld.com 13.11.03, 13:05
Amazon.co.uk can usually supply any publication but checks confiremed that the
dictinary in question is either out of stock with the publisher or out of
print. If you are unable to get it and do have a genuine need for one, you can
have my two volumes as a gift. Used to do a lot of translating but my Polish
has become too 'wooden' due to lack of use and contact, therefore dictionaries
are surplass to requirements. Now, how's that for being nice?
          • Gość: jagoda Re: help again ! IP: *.neoplus.adsl.tpnet.pl 13.11.03, 14:07
Are mixing medications? ( joke ) Thanks I'll check amazon .As far as you
offernig me those books as a gift good one :)
            • Gość: steph Re: help again ! IP: *.in-addr.btopenworld.com 13.11.03, 14:28
It just so happens that the offer is serious, and no strings attached. Call it
a whim of an 'old bitch'? No hard feelings.
              • Gość: jagoda Re: help again ! IP: *.neoplus.adsl.tpnet.pl 13.11.03, 23:20
Are you for real? I mean you'd really do it ? Wow now that's something I'm
                immpresed :)
                • Gość: steph Re: help again ! IP: *.in-addr.btopenworld.com 13.11.03, 23:57
Well, I simply don't need them any more, my family don't speak Polish, and
providing postage doesn't cost a fortune you are welcome to them. If you have
some contact in London, I'll gladly arrange to have them dropped off or
collected. Season of good will and all that?
                  • Gość: jagoda Re: help again ! IP: *.neoplus.adsl.tpnet.pl 14.11.03, 22:06
Thanks but I don't have anybody in London :) i wish I could though because I
could really use them :) But anyway thank you very much for being so nice and
offering them to me :) That's really nice and it means a lot to me :)
                    • Gość: steph Re: help again ! IP: *.in-addr.btopenworld.com 14.11.03, 22:51
Well, let's think. Can you disclose where is it in Poland that you live?
Warsaw would be helpful as various friends of mine will be going home for
                      Christmas.

Hi Jagoda. Located a Polish company specialising in parcels to Poland. Sounds
neat and cheap. Project very viable.
Now a reason why. Couple of years ago my daughter and I were waiting for a
tube train in London after a failed mission to locate a rare publication which
she wanted to use for her dissertation. We were chatting about the book when
an elderly chap came over. He apologised for evesdropping and said he was in
possession of the publication in question and as it was gathering dust on his
bookshelf, nothing would give him more pleasure than a chance to forward it to
my daughter. Obviously, we both thought that he was some sad weirdo attracted
to the long-legged blond (ie my daughter) but I gave him my calling card just
the same. Couldn't believe my eyes when the book arrived on my doormat couple
of days later. No sender's name, no address. Just a nice gesture which
ultimately helped my daughter to get the First in her degree.
Now, if you are serious, please contact me via:
                          brightspark11@hotmail.com
I know the address sounds stupid but this forum is somewhat public.

                            > I know the address sounds stupid

...stupid?...no way...just modest...are there any more brightsparks, or just
                            the one and only?...
