Native speaker in Poland

15.03.09, 15:10
Hi Jonny,

Quick question - my future husband (an Englishman) and I are planning to
travel for few years and then settle down in Poznan. We both have
qualifications to teach English and I know it won't be so difficult for me to
find a job here. I've been wondering though - what is the reality of finding a
teaching job for a native speaker? I guess they are being paid better than
other teachers but what salary can we talk about? Or maybe it is more
reasonable to run our own language school?
Any advise?

Thanks,
Kasia

      Hi Kasia,
For salary you are looking at anywhere from GBP8-16 per hour. For
private lessons the range is GBP20-50. Operating your own school is
a great idea particually if you know the visa market well. Most
students who pay money to learn English prefer to have a native
English speaker as a teacher for the reason you have stated.

and...finding an English teaching job in London is not so easy
now...but abroad there is a significant demand like Istanbul, for
example, where they have many English schools such as English Time
      and so on.
