Travel to Poland

Hi,
I've been directed to this forum by a friend of mine. I am planning a trip to
Poland in June/July (Warsaw/Gdansk/Cracow). Can anyone suggest whether I
should fly with LOT or BA? Does anyone have a first-hand experience of
travelling with Air Polonia? I am not too keen on low-cost airlines but
perhaps this one is different? I have never flown with LOT either so I don't
know what to expect. What about internal flights between Cracow and Gdansk? I
haven't decided yet whether to hire a car or not.

re. whether you should choose ba or lot - just check what's cheaper ;) (or fly
Ba if you collect miles). lot's quality is ok (they won't kill you).

re. cheap airlines. i don't have any personal experience with air polonia. i
assume you fly from london so you can fly with other lccs. check skyeurope
www.skyeurope.com (stansted - warsaw) and wizz www.wizzair.com
(luton - katowice).

re. domestic flights. lot is the only option and you can fly via warsaw only.
visit their web-page, may be there're some offers but don't expect too much.
ic trains can be a reasonable alternative - www.intercity.com.pl

Thanks for that. I think I'll go with either LOT or BA. Can't hack Stanstead.
It needs to be Gatwick or Heathrow.

Never choose LOT. LOT is roads and has low class: ford in cabin and in toilets.
Unpleasant , boorish service in LOT is. I command AirPolonia and SkyEurope,
Wizz Air, because they are then dam tench, you for ticket will not pay road.
You can always calculate on nice and professional service. You will come to
Polish quickly and comfortably. I command alternatively BA.

LOT is the best choice to Poland, as a regular, full-service airline no need to
be worry about anything, cuz low-costs are still in their kindergarden here-
many delays, cancelled flights etce tc. Use LOT or BA- standard is exacly the
same, LOT has more to offer on board, crews are younger than famous "BA-
Grandmas", and especially when you book some other domestic connections- with
LOT international ticket- domestics out and to WAW are free of charge!

Antois writes truth. LOT is on Polish market the at present worst airway. It is
this the dearest line in Europie and her services are bad. Boorish service in
LOT is, bad food and dirt. Do not overpay, fly with different line than LOT.

LOT and British Airways offer a similar level of service on their UK to Poland
routes. Just check which one is cheaper or has more convenient schedules.

All domestic routes in Poland are operated by LOT and go via Warsaw. The level
of service is acceptable but you will usually have to fly an ATR turboprop
aeroplane.

I have travelled with Air Polonia twice. It's a more or less typical low cost
carrier. Nothing to write home about.

You could also try Sky Europe- they're a low cost operator with a human face
offering in-flight service.

Thanks - money is not a problem. It still is a toss-up between LOT and BA. I've
gone off the idea of low-cost. As far as travelling around Poland, I won't know
exactly when I'd be going to Gdansk or Cracow until the last minute so I think
in the end it would be easier to hire a car.

The British Airways deciding has the better level of services than FLIGHT and
this for lower price. However do not overpay and fly with airway AirPolonia,
Sky Europe or WizzAir. You have for low price service on high level.

Air Polonia is the only airline flying from London to Gdansk.
You can easily buy one way or open-jaw
tickets with them. I don't think LOT would sell you a
cheap open-jaw for less than $800. So my recommendation
would be to fly into Gdansk
with Air Polonia and come back from Krakow/Katowice with either
Air Polonia or Wizzair. Use trains while in Poland.

Actually I was wrong, LOT does allow open-jaw!
For example LGW-KRK and then WAW-LHR in July
was priced at only GBP 168. So there you go.

Thanks for that. That sounds very cheap. This must be economy class. I'd be
flying business. By the way, any ideas why I should choose LOT over BA? I am
more interested in the quality of service on board.

Services LOT are worse than low cost

I had experience with economy class on both LOT and BA flights and, for me, LOT
is much better. But this may be different in business class, I have no idea.

Take BA. DO NOT fly with LOT! Since you don't speak Polish, you have no idea
how horrible Polish flight attendants are. If you could read the things they
say here, you'd be horrified. The number of times I have read how badly they
treat the passengers, how they steal, how they spoil the food, spit in it etc.
Awful, awful people! And the arguments! It is amazing that they find time to
actually do any work on board the aircraft. Constant backstabbing, bitching. It
is disgusting and horrible. If you don't believe me, ask you friend to read
some of the messages to you. Go with BA to Warsaw or Cracow then hire a car and
travel that way.

No to pierzcie w domu a nie na ulicy. Prawde napisalem. Steki chamstw, ktore
tutaj czytam sa przerazajace. Opinie stewardes o pasazerach, to jak pluja w
jedzenie. Niech sie ta osoba dowie, w co sie wpakuje wsiadajac do samolotu PLL
LOT. Trzeba bylo sie zastanowic nad tym, co sie wypisuje wczesniej a nie teraz.
Niewatpliwie ta osoba po przeczytaniu tego nie bedzie miala najlepszej opinii o
LOT, obsludze itp. Sam nie bedzie lecial LOT i pewnie jeszcze innym znajomym
odradzi. LOT poniesie konsekwencje - mniej pasazerow, mniej lotow, zwolnienia.
I jak zwykle zwolnienia najpierw na najnizszym szczeblu. Macie prace, trzeba
bylo o nia dbac. Zamiast rujnowac opinie wlasnego pracodawcy, trzeba bylo
przynajmniej siedziec cicho jesli nic dobrego nie byliscie w stanie o nim
powiedziec. Moze teraz jak strach wam dupe scisnie, to sie zastanowicie nad
tym, co robicie.

See, some users here are ex-LOT, or those who didn't get there or were kicked
out etc etc, so that's why few of them are saying such a things. Just check LOT
oppinions and see how many TRavel Awards LOT got for last 8 years, so you can
see how good this airline is.

Your post certainly makes a very interesting reading. I sort of knew that FAs
could be very unpleasant to passengers (I have heard worse things than the ones
you mention) and it can happen on any flight with any airline. But... I have
not heard of FAs being so blatantly open about it in public. It makes me cringe
to think that I even considered flying with LOT. Thanks for that insight. I can
assure you that I'll steer clear of LOT. What a pathetic bunch of amateurs!

Sorry, ale czuje sie obrazona, jestem jednym z paxow i kilka razy do roku latam
LOT-em - dotychczas wybieralam wlasnie LOT ze wzgledu na: mila atmosfere i mila
obsluge oraz dobre jedzenie,
jezeli Pani pracuje wylacznie dla wlasnej przyjemnosci to dziwie sie ze obsluga
clienta Pani tej przyjemnosci nie sprawia - Powinna Pani znac termin "service
minded" - jakim cudem jeszcze Pani te prace wykonuje i sie nie wypalila? A
pozycja firmy na rynku switowym/europejskim Pani nie interesuje? Poza tym praca
dla przyjemnosci jest rownoznaczna wykonywaniem swoich obowiazkow z
przyjemnoscia i na bardzo wysokim poziomie. Wyrazy wspolczucia.
