Grand Kaptan - Alanya (*****)

14.07.04, 12:25
Me and my family have been coming to Alanya for 11 years and for the last 4
years have stayed in the Grand Kaptan Hotel. The Hotel is a lovely 5 star
hotel with nice grounds and gardens. The hotel is always very clean and the
rooms are always kept clean and tidy. The rooms are spacious and have a T.V
and mini bar and also a safe. The linen and towels are changed daily. Some of
the rooms have a lovely view of the local castle at night. The staff are very
friendly and helpful. The food is very good and you can always find something
suitable to eat.The hotel runs its own courtouesy bus into Alanya centre
which is about 15 mins away.

Across the road from the hotel is a really nice and friendly bar called The
Blue Parrot Cafe Bar.The bar is open from early morning until the last
customer leaves. The bar is run by 2 locals called Serdar and Hakan who are
very friendly and helpful and always willing to offer advise or help. They
always love having a laugh and a joke with the customers and are very good
with children.

The food in the bar is excellant and you can eat from early morning till
late evening. They have a great Pizza chef who cooks great Pizza's and lovely
hot Turkish bread(which inflates like a rugby ball)served with a great garlic
dip.The 2 chefs cater for all tastes e.g burgers,Fresh fish andlovely steaks
or for those who prefer Turkish dishes such as Donner Kebabs.Shish Kebabs and
Ottoman Pan(which can be as hot or spicy as you like). They also serve a great
Cappacino with lots of cream on top,or for those who prefer a little stronger
local or imported spirits.Oh I almost forgot to mention the great cocktails
and really nice clean toilets.

As you can probably tell the Blue Parrot is definately our favourite bar in
Alanya, and if you find yourself nearby is definately worth a visit.

We love the Hotel and bar that much that we are going back in a few weeks
time with our family.

The Grand Kaptan is about 5 kms from the centre of Alanya (deservedly nicknamed
Turkish Miami) but has a free bus which runs every hour to Alanya until
midnight. Food is good and varied and the staff are courteous and hardworking.
The hotel does not take money, you are issued with a wristband on arrival which
is zapped by the bar staff or waiters and then you settle the bill at the end
of your holiday or every few days if you wish.

The kids loved the hotels 3 large water slides and the main pool is good and
really large with 3 jacuzis too.

Even though the Kaptan is a big hotel the Animation Team work really hard to
keep every one amused with pool games, darts, beach volleyball etc and also put
on nightly shows (very amature but still a laugh) on the bar on the roof which
has a good stage set up with kids mini-disco upto 9.30PM.

There are a few bars and restraunts situated around the hotel, the best being
Adanis. The owner Hasan is a real diamond, the bar staff love to dance and
entertain the guests. Hasan actually runs tours around the area and acts as a
personal guide all day. We paid £16 pound adult £8 which included lunch and all
entry fees. child and visited a Beduin village, 1400 yr old mosque, had apple
tea with a Turkish family in a really old traditional house, fantastic
underground caves, lunch overlooking a crystal clear river, Hasan actually
phoned in the food order so it was on the table when we arrived. We ended the
day at at a lovely waterfall with floating rafts with beds where you just
chilled out with a cold beer or had a swim in the crystal clear mountain water.
We where never on the bus for more than 30mins at a time.

Alanya is spectacular at night time as it is over looked by castle ruins which
      are illuminated at night.

The hotel is advertised as 5 star but is probably on a par with European 4
star. Rooms are spotless, clean linen and towels every day, rooms have mini-
bar, 20 channel tv with Eurosport and BBC news in English they also provide
beach towels free of charge. Theres also a private beach with jet skis and
banana boat etc and a beach bar with BBQ every day. The sea is too strong for
toddlers but is much calmer with no rocks closer to Alanya.

It was our first time in Turkey and we loved every minute, if you book the
Grand Kaptan you will not be dissappointed.

      pare slow po polsku:
bylem w tym hotelu w roku 1998 i juz wtedy byl jednym z najlepszych w Alanyi.
odwiedzajac te same miejsca nigdy nie mieszkam w tych samych hotelach, bo taka
      porownywalna z Kleopatra!
Pozdrawiam i hotel ten polecam najbardziej
