Hindu festival

Joythi means light in Tamil and Sanskrit.

The festival will be a daylong event offering traditional Indian music and dance
as well as Bollywood-style singing and dancing, games and rides for children,
peanuts roasted in sand, outdoor food stalls and booths with books, jewellery

the square in front of city hall on Sunday. But organizers were told honouring
Ms. Glebova ran afoul of a 1990 bylaw forbidding events on the square that
"exploit the bodies of men, women, boys or girls solely for the purposes of
attracting attention." The bylaw adds that "specifically, beauty pageants will
be prohibited."

Toronto will soon be awash with arts and cultural events.

These are not just fun and games, but a way to put the city on the world map for
tourists and investors.

This September, the city kicks off a 16-month celebration timed for the opening,
expansion and near-completion of a record number of cultural venues through
2008, such as the opera house and the expansion of both the Royal Ontario Museum

The exhibit depicts Canada, creating a colourful mosaic tapestry with nearly
5,000 beer caps. Specific caps were chosen for their graphics, colour and
symbolic meanings. Caps with sailboats and anchors dot the Maritime provinces.
Ontario features caps with maple leaves, beavers, moose and Canadian geese from
breweries such as Moosehead, Upper Canada and Northern Algonquin Brewing.
Saskatchewan is appropriately dotted with Dry caps and others with golden wheat.
Alberta, famous for its cowboys, is easily identifiable with Colt Beer caps
featuring horses, and B.C. wildlife is represented by Wildcat and Grizzly Beer caps.
