Arsenal - terrible ref ...

18.05.06, 10:00
Arsenal deserved to lose, but wasn't the ref awful?

Barcelona were robbed of their first goal when the ref blew the whistle and
sent the Arsenal goalie off instead of playing on, letting B. score and then
sending the goalie off.
And was it just me or was the 1st B. goal a case of offside ...?
Still, the right result.

A victory for the "polacos", then.

        Polacos?
Were there any Poles in the Barcelona team? Or are you just referring to the
boringly predictable tendency of troglodytes to support the favourites in any
        contest?

"Polacos" is the slang term Castillians use for people from Catalunya, as they
cannot understand a word they are saying.

Sending-Off Offences A player is sent off and shown the red card if he
commits any of the following seven offences: (...)5. denies an obvious
goalscoring opportunity to an opponent moving towards the player’s goal by an
offence punishable by a free kick or a penalty kick

      Also

The Referee (...) allows play to continue when the team against which an
offence has been committed will benefi t from such an advantage and penalises
the original offence if the anticipated advantage does not ensue at that time

So Lehmann should not be penalised and the score should count.

Umm, no. Arsenal played much better in my opinion and deserved to win much more
than Barcelona which had no idea how to get through their defence. I say this
despite I like Barca's style of play more.
