Qassam missile lands in Sderot, injuring one man, after Israeli air force

A pre-dawn Israeli air raid started big fires Hamas bases, weapons stores and
foundries in Jebalya, Zeitun and Gaza City. Missile-launching sites also hit in
N. Gaza Strip. Three Palestinians injured. Closure imposed on Gaza, West Bank
and Jordan Valley.

Three of the wounded in Sderot were volunteer police on patrol. Also many shock
victims. Damage also in Kibbutz Kissufim.

At dawn Saturday, Palestinians shot at IDF patrol near the Sufa crossing from
the Gaza Strip. No casualties.

The first Qassam volley of 10 missiles was fired Friday afternoon by Jihad
Islami at Sderot, Kfar Aza and Nahal Oz. One landed near Zikkim south of
Ashkelon. No casualties. Jihad Islami claimed attack was a reprisal for three
wanted Palestinian terrorists killed in a shootout with Israeli troops near the
West Bank town of Tulkarm Thursday night.

The Palestinian Authority issued a statement holding the Hamas responsible for
the deaths of 17 Palestinians when a Kassam-laden truck exploded at a Friday
night Hamas rally. The statement declared that the Hamas operatives had
apparently mishandled explosives and renewed demands that armed groups stop
flaunting their weapons in public.

A pickup truck loaded with Kassam rockets blew up during a Hamas rally at the
Jebaliya refugee camp in the Gaza Strip on Friday, killing at least least 17
Palestinians and injuring another 140, the Palestinian Health Ministry said
Saturday. A number of senior Hamas operatives were killed in the explosion,
which was apparently caused when explosives in the truck were accidentally
triggered. Of the dead, at least three were children under 15. Nineteen of the
wounded were also minors, the ministry said.
