In your study you used 600 subjects.
    • chris-joe Re: jak napisac: na grupie 600 osob 13.03.04, 02:25
the studies have been conducted on a (representative) group of 600 people
      ("subjects" too is often used).
      • chris-joe correction 13.03.04, 02:26
        the STUDY has been...
        • chris-joe Re: correction 13.03.04, 02:29
or: the survey -depending on what kind of "badania"
          • Gość: gizmo Re: correction IP: *.sympatico.ca 13.03.04, 02:39
Listen to Chris-Joe, he's goooood. But I still think your sample was 600
subjects. Sounds a bit better, more scientific.
            • chris-joe Re: correction 13.03.04, 02:42
"more scientific" :)))) good one! but I concur.
              • Gość: gizmo Re: correction IP: *.sympatico.ca 13.03.04, 02:53
Yeah. In scientific studies you use "subjects" rather than "people". That's
just the proper terminology. A sample of that many subjects is definitely
scientific. Good luck with the statistics!!!
                • chris-joe Re: correction 13.03.04, 02:57
but I said, and I quote here: "But I concur" :)

Yeah, I understand. I'm not trying to be i pick-ass. I'm just trying to help
                    the professor.
Hey, chris-joe, check out the third topic down ie. "Two questions" by
                    zglupcowany. What do you think?
                    • chris-joe Re: correction 13.03.04, 03:34
well -what's his face?- Tynski, generally speaking, is right, however, and I
mean a big HOWEVER, his explanations sound way too contrived therefore
unconvincing. The original problem belongs in a textbook for advanced English
linguistics and NOT a textbook for ESL students.
I can not imagine using the phrases in question in a day-to-day English or even
                      in a once-in-a-blue-moon English.
I don't buy it. Sorry, no sale. Gimme me my plastic back.

but then again, who am I to say so, just a dumb Polish-Canadian :)

                            no kidding :) where @?

Hope you like it here. How do you like our winter? Ahh! That's why you're
                                    going to Brazil.
                                    • chris-joe Re: ps. 13.03.04, 04:12
to be abso-freaking-lutely honest I don't like it here very much, I mean I do
but there's so many things that piss you right off in Mtl. The fact that my
                                      French sucks doesn't help either.
I'm through with Vancouver so there's no going back, but am already conspiring
to move to TO in a couple of years. I do want, however, to learn French well
before I quit this lovely city. And by the time that happens, who knows, maybe
                                      I'll change my mind.

oh, the winter... pheew! This one has been the toughest in my life!!! I mean,
I thought that 40 below is against the Charter of Human Rights!!!

Ha! Ha! Welcome, welcome! It was colder here this year than in Syberia. In
early April when you're in Brazil we'll have an unbearable heat wave.
Guaranteed! What can you do? The summers are pretty nice though. That's if
you like 35-40 deg.C. Take care.
