uncover and discover

Could anybody explain to me the difference between words 'uncover'
and 'discover'?

W sensie:
"He uncovered/discovered an assassination plot on XY" - mozna je uzyc wymiennie

uncover - to find something out (something that was hidden: truth, plot)
discover - to find something out (np. cos co bylo oczywiste, ale do tej pory
przeze mnie niezauwazone) np: "I have discovered that Ewa is a selfish cow."

ex.
The truth about his infidelity was soon uncovered by the media after the police
