Referent

Could anybody help me out with finding the English equivalent of the
term "referent"? A colleague of mine has asked me to translate her "cv" into
English, and this "referent" has been a real stumbling block for me. I
asked her to elaborate on what such a person is actually doing, and then came
up, just to fill in the void, with a descriptive translation : "a senior
clerk charged with making annual reports". But I know I won't get away with
that. What I found on the Web on this matter doesn't look very convincing
either - not that I'm an expert on searching the Web. I would be grateful for
a hint. Many thanks in advance.

Wow! A department manager - that sounds really impressive! She should be
