An American Perspective on America Present

29.05.06, 13:37

First of all, I want to say I hope I offend no one by this post. My goal
here is to perhaps help even one person of my new favorite country, Poland,
understand how other American (certainly not me) were fooled into voting for
Bush the second time. It's a trick that has been used for centuries. Fear.
You may or may not know that Bush had and still has a policitcal guru in his
camp named Karl Rove. Well, the good news is America is just about figuring
out how bad the lies and ridiculous assumptions were these past six years.
Rove did his job well. As much as many of us despise this administration and
most of what they stand for, Rove/Bush did well for each other. I could
write an hour about each lie they told the US people, but just know that more
and more are figuring it out. Many of us, unfortunately not the majority,
knew this all along. The day we went into Iraq, I said "someday the truth
will come out, and it will be just as bad as Vietnam. They people could not
have done more to hurt Americans and the image of the U.S. I believe. More
and more truth is coming out, most recently about the coverup of the Marines
shooting innocent/unarmed people in Iraq. On this Memorial Day, a day which
I look at my father who fought in Europe in WWII, and the other veterans who
were not so lucky to come home and have a family....I look to these people
with much respect.

I am living in Poland now and love the people and the history. I still have
love for my native country, but it only takes a few people in the wrong
places in government to be ashamed and embarrassed to admit my nationality.

One final word. I noticed the news station FOX News is on satellite TV here
all over the place. Please know that only a small group of Americans believe
this is real news. Essentially, this channel is an extension of the party in
office. Watch this channel only as entertainment, not as "real" news.
National Public Radio gives a most balanced delivery of the news. Notice how
FOX waves the American Flag around in graphics, as to say, if you don't watch
THIS channel, you're not a real American. More scare tactics.

Just had to share these thoughts with you. If I can help answer any
questions, post a response and I'll do my best to answer. I'm 42, educated
and have voted for Republicans and Democrats alike, so I would say I am
pretty much an average American, just maybe a lot more traveled...

I'm still trying to figure out why and how Poles were fooled into voting for
      Kaczynski brothers...

He'd promised to sort out the likes of Lepper and then made him vice-premier :)

Oh and a radio station called Radio Maryja had it's role in Kaczyńscy winning :)

And there's two of them. Bush is only one. I wouldn't complain.

Hey johnny3211, Im glad that you posted message like this.
I've been living in Canada for 13 years (came here when i was 21, from Poland of course) so I hope I have a bit of understanding what's going on in the U.S of A.
I'm answering your post beacause in my opinion You nailed it!
Thats exactly what happened with the election of that idiot. Scary tactics.
I feel sorry for most of the Amaricans, they didn't (don't) know that they were duped. We were complaining about the propaganda in Poland, man I never encounter bigger propaganda then I did in US. It makes me puke. Dont believe American news (especially Fox, as You mentioned), lies, lies, lies.
I'm happy to see that the acceptance rate for the Bush-whacker, hehe, is going down (about 26% lately). Wake up American people. Of course Bush is just a puppet in the hands of Chaneys and Rumsfelds.

      with regards:
      Mudzyn

P.S Sorry for the eventual errors in my typing/grammar...still learning, lol

Thanks for understanding. The news just keeps getting worse, even this
weekend. I did see the Michael Moore film and he got so much right, but of
course the Washington spin machine did a good job of knocking it down.

YOu know, I just feel like I needed to do some small piece to explain how
Americans were fooled. I can say I never voted for him at least!

I saw the signature about Dogs/Heaven. One similar to that is:
If dogs don't get to go to heaven, then I want to go wherever they go!
Having brought my two children (dogs) over from the U.S., I feel this way.
When the world seems cold to me, they are always there to help make it seem
      warmer.

      Take care all! Johnny

I don't know if you are familiar with the Jon Stewart show, and Steven
Colbert report, about only two programmes (british spelling) that make sense, tell the truth, or at least make fun of what's going on in America these days.
I dont know if you saw the Steven Colbert speach at the 2006 White House Correspondents' Dinner, but I'm telling you he kicked ass!
And Bush was ten feet from him.
        In your face Dubllia!!!
