I've heard that GB is going to change the meaning of *billion* to be equal to
the US billion. Could anyone confirm or deny it?
As far as I know US billion = 1000 of millions
and GB billion = 1000,000 of millions

With companies like Time Warner&AOL (CNN) and the internet the world is used
to the US billion, which is 1.000 million. You should know this if you want to
      be a billionaire...

I think this change has already been in operation for some time... Nowadays
if anybody refers to a "billion" in the media etc. they mean 1,000 million.
And I'm pretty sure this is how they teach it in British schools now.

Exactly. Imagine the confusion if two different definitions existed. Also, the
term 'milliard' is rather awkward and more difficult to pronounce...

Couldn't you make the Authorities to abandon this crazy idea? I'm sure you
could. Persuade them to keep billion meaning the same number as in Poland.
Thanks in anticipation for your endeavours.
Kindly inform me about achievement of the successful result unless I'll be in
        trouble. I care about it.
