in search of...

21.08.03, 00:02
Need someone (a Pole, a foreigner) to talk with at the advanced level of
English. The idea of non-profit meetings would be to help both sides to
improve speaking abilities. The discussions could bring up a variety of
subjects. Location: Warsaw. The frequency and the duration to be established.

a nie mowi sie czasem: in search for...?

It is true that the verb "search" is normally followed by the preposition "for":

F.ex.: He searched for the hidden treasure throughout the attic.

But the substantive "search" in expressions such as "in search of" takes the
        preposition "of" and not "for".

        Compare: "in pursuit of"
        "in quest of"

Thus the title "in search of" is perfectly correct.

        kind regards

        That'd be very nice...

but first it would be hard to find smn in my city and then, here I am EXPECTED
to know English so well that in principle I'm expected not to need any such
things. Mind that I said 'expected', which unfortunately is quite far from
        truth...
