'Freak out' is a phrasal verb and basically means to become very
      disturbed or angry...for example...'When I dscovered I had thrown
out my winning lottery ticket I freaked out!'

The thing to remember with phrasal verbs is that they often covey a
feeling rather than a direct meaning...

I like that word 'cheers'...we use it in an informal way...to say
thanks....goodbye....and even to salute someone on their
          birthday...!!
