Can you explain the difference between phrases: the next (week, Friday) and
next, pleez?

      Hi there!, As an Adj:
      'Next' means immediately following in time or order. To use your
      examples; 'next week,' 'next friday' or 'the next item on the
      list;' 'the next president' and so on.

      'Next' can also mean the nearest in space or position. For eg, 'in
      the next room,' 'the girl sitting next to me.'

      'Next' can also be used as an adverb. For eg, 'next the doctor
      examined her arm.' :-)

        Thanx for the answer. Actually I meant the difference between 'the next week,
        Friday etc' and 'next week, Friday etc'. Sorry about not making myself clear.

          No worries. An article is a word that combines with a noun to
          indicate the type of reference being made by the noun. The three
          main articles in the English language are the, an and a. Check out
