Airbus wishes to launch a new plane at the latest at the beginning of 2006

PARIS (AFP) - the European airframe manufacturer Airbus wishes to launch, at
the latest at the beginning of 2006, a new commercial apparatus, announced to
Monday its chairman Noël Forgeard, without specifying which would be the
vocation of this plane.

According to the professional neswletter Aeronautical Business, to appear
Thursday, the American aeronautical equipment supplier General Electric (NYSE:
GE - topicality), retained by Boeing to equip the 7E7, would have signed in
July a draft-agreement with Airbus to motorize A350.

General Electric and the Rolls-Royce British was selected at the beginning of
April by the American manufacturer to motorize his new plane, whose design
would allow an "super-economic" exploitation.

Questioned in July on the advisability for Airbus of answering the new program
of its American competitor, the 7E7, of Boeing, Mr. Forgeard had formulated at
the time of the aeronautical living room of Farnborough (Great Britain) a
response to double relaxation.

"We do not feel not obliged to react to a reaction", it had initially declared,
faithful to the traditional argument of the group according to which the 7E7 is
already a response to its A330-200.

the reality of the 7E7 project.

commercial aircraft of Boeing, Sonic Cruiser.

challenge the Boeing 7E7 made little impression on Credit Suisse. Analyst J.M.H
was "suspicious" that reports from Europe represent a floater "to give airlines
pause before considering a large investment in the 7E7. He observes that Boeing
used the same tactic when discusing a 747 derivative while Airbus was shopping
the A380. Higgins expressed doubts that an A350 could match 7E7
cost-effectiveness with its older frame and only a $2 mld investment while
Airbus is producing the A380 and launching the military A400M".
