USA oczami przebywajacego tam aktualnie australijskiego turysty (tekst z

"America has a society which does not match its economy, or vice versa. I
have traveled out and about every day on the public buses and light rail and
have never seen such extensive slums, trailer parks of the poorest kind and
wasteland. I am living in a respectable condo in a huge block in an enclosed
compound, swimming pools, tennis courts, etc. and hundreds of units.
Immediately to the rear is the wide treed bank of the San Diego River where
hundreds of homeless camp, or did, until they were flooded out last week. The
back of the compound has a high security fence with the ground cleared and
floodlit. It is constantly patrolled.
The problem is that so many people have given up. They have no hope of ever
paying rent on $5 an hour, let alone buying a car, medical insurance, etc.
This is an extremely sick society. Estimates are always difficult but maybe a
third of the population is a total burden on the actual economy which
comprises the other 70% of society.
I respect the Hispanics who strive to come here by any means. The poor
bastards work illegally for $2-$3 an hour on the farms. That is how I can buy
the best of fruit and vegetables for half what we pay in Australia. The
hypocritical yanks are taking advantage of the compromised situation of the
poor Mexicans from whom they stole California, Utah, Arizona, Texas, Nevada
and New Mexico. Oh, sorry, they did pay $775,000 for California while
occupying it and holding a gun at the head of Mexico. The good old American
level playing field.
And they think everyone wants to come and live here. I couldn't."
