Rodney Adler may have noticed invitations from the Sydney A-list drying up
over the past few months, but the corporate crim can rest assured he will
still celebrate the Jewish holiday of Passover on Saturday. Spike's moles
report a Woollahra organisation called Jewish Care has prepared for Adler
foods eaten during the festival, which celebrates the Jews leaving Egypt.
During the religious festival Jews eat special foods, including unleavened
bread. People identifying as Jewish in the prison system are each sent a
package for Passover from Jewish Care. Spike's mole spotted the big plastic
bag with Rodney Adler's name on it over the weekend.
While no one from Jewish Care called Spike back to tell us what else was in
Adler's package, we have learnt that the organisation's prison outreach
program offers support to prison inmates and their families in a variety of
ways.
According to the website, the aim of the program is to "link inmates with the
Jewish community to reduce the possibility of reoffending".
It also aims to educate staff at the Department of Corrective Services about
the religious and social needs of Jewish inmates.
