But seriously, there is the East Coast, a geographical region which covers the easternmost states, and the eastern coast, which is just the area along the line where the the Atlantic Ocean meets the land.

the canadian continuation of the East Coast, i.e. the Maritimes - Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Newfoundland and Labrador. Some of them received plenty of rain yesterday because of the nasty Irene.

Here in Montreal I left home just once that day and only to the video store around the corner.
Provincewide, a few cars swept into the river, one person dead, one missing, thousands without power.

Coast is usually east or west, but Florida has its eastern coast and its western coast.
Is it because Florida's coasts are a mess? Well, I don't know. Perhaps.
