Whenever I go to the USA, lunch and dinner are eaten VIP-1 says. There's no
"tea" either.

As for "supper", some people I asked said it's served later then dinner. Others
said it's a different name for dinner and a matter of vocab usage.

By the way, you asked a good question--these things are often confused in over here.

lunch - betwee 12.00 - 2.oopm
tea - either high tea, taken by upper classes circa 4/5pm; tea, cucumber or
salmon canapes, cream cakes/scones with clotted cream, for example
tea - working class for 'dinner'. late afternoon/early evening meal
dinner - evening meal at home, anytime between 6-8pm, or out in a restaurant,
later
supper - somewhat unused as dinner is fairly late

Nie zapominajmy o takich przyjemnościach jak brunch, tiffin i five o'clock.

Teraz wiem czemu takie korki na M6 albo M25, wszyscy wracajacy do domow z pracy
zatrzymuja sie na poboczu i parza herbate! Niezle! ;o)
"dinner time" - zaleznie od czesci kraju (i wieku mowiacego) - moze
znaczyc "lunch time".
Podobne zamieszanie jest z "tea time" i "dinner time".

Traffic jams on M25 are created by people who happen to leave work any time
between 5 - 6pm and are heading home for ... dinner, surprise surprise.By that
time, many families on council estates around the country would be sitting down
to have their ... tea, ie fish fingers, beans and chips, bangers and mash etc.
Society ladies are likely to be still enjoying their high tea, either in their
drawing rooms or venues such as the Ritz, Fortnum and Mason and others. Sounds
laughable perhaps but meal times and their names are still very much a class
reflection here.
