CAE/profficiency

Question for those who passed CAE & proficiency exams.
What is in your opinion difference in the level of difficulty for these 2
exams.
Is it worth trying to pass profficiency without passing CAE first?
My estimate level of my English much closer to CAE than proficiency :(

some say that cae is more difficult than proficiency as far as vocabulary is concerned. There are many books in which you can find tests from both cae and prof. so the only person that can estimate your real knowledge and decide whether it is better to pass the former or the latter one is you.

        Hi,

        I was told the following
        let's assume:
if difficulty level of FCE = 0
        difficulty of CPE = 100

then CAE would be somewhere between 60 - 65

        Rgds,

I'd even say CAE is 70.
The gap between FCE and CAE is much bigger than between CAE and CPE. Acctaully
the whole difference is vocab. Grammar is more or less the same.
I recommend trying couple of tests to find out yourself.

I can agree with that. It took me two years to prepare for CAE, whereas the
preparation to CPE was half a year shorter (and I did very well in both exams).
Trying to solve some CPE tests is, in my opinion, the best way to check your
level and see whether you're well prepared. If you can score about 70% in a
random CPE test, then, with some additional pracise, you are almost sure to
            pass the exam.

The first thing I learned during my CPE preparation course years ago, was
that ' I can agree with that' is the most common, basic mistake made by Poles
              learning English :-) Yes, I'm serious :-)

Thanks!! I'll try to be careful in the future! ^^

          That's exactly what I think.

OK, 60-65 is more less the level of CAE .
