Despite carrying more passengers and cargo, airlines are facing the prospect
of steep losses in 2004 because of soaring fuel costs.

Bisignani repeated his warning that if current fuel prices persist, combined
airline losses could exceed the $3 billion to $4 billion previously forecast.
