annie_laurie_starr 01.12.04, 22:05 How do I say "genetic drift" in Polish? It is about GMO crops. Is it the same as contamination of regular crops by GMO-crops? Odpowiedz Link Zgłoś Obserwuj wątek Podgląd Opublikuj

The concern here is that GM crops could reproduce with unmodified plants thereby reducing diversity and contaminating previously unmodified crops. In Polish: genetyczne dryfowanie? (sorry, I'm lacking Polish scientific vocabulary). Hope it helps, Daft Pozdrawiam, Daft Vader Odpowiedz Link Zgłoś

grzespelc Re: genetic drift 02.12.04, 15:48 Maybe "mutacja genetyczna", referring not only to the process, but also its result. Odpowiedz Link Zgłoś
u-boot_88 Re: genetic drift 03.12.04, 17:25 "Dryf genetyczny" is a phenomenon the result of which is "mutacja genetyczna", so that that's not the same :) Odpowiedz Link Zgłoś

It (roughly) is a change in the gene pool of a population due not to natural selection, but random accidents (stochastic effect). W polskiej literaturze to znaczenie tłumaczy się jako dryf genetyczny. rgdz Odpowiedz Link Zgłoś
