the year 2005 - twenty oh five???

I'm sure that is should be pronounced two thousand and five, but one of my
students made my unsure by swearing that he heard it said like in the title
of this post.
Please say I was right:-)

I think it'd be two thousand and five, but- if we said: 1963 - nineteen
sixty-three, we'd say: 2005- twenty oh five.

both are good. Twenty oh five is more informal.

I don't know about the other one but I'm sure it's not a hanging offence to use

Both are right. Usually we say "two thousand and five"... But if you say "twenty
oh five", it won't be wrong.
