Well, it has been a while, but...
It was in good old times when you marked your answers
with #2 pencil on a piece of paper, so the technical
things are irrelevant now. AFAIK now ou sit in front
of a computer and slect an answer and move on.
Unlike in the old test you cannot skip questions
and go back at the end of the test.
This renders a simple strategy (answer what you know
for sure first, skip what you don't know, go back to
the questions you skipped, pick a random answer
for questions you don't know the answer
          before time runs out) useless.

Math was piece of cake (it is simple arithmetics,
geonetry, elementary algebra and some trigonometry),
and I think I got maximum score.
Logic/Analytical part is more difficult and requires
more time (it is hard to give instant answers as in
the math part), but with little training it is fairly
          easy.
The English part was the most difficult for me.
I am sure I would do much better now, but you really
need to know a lot of words to be able to answer
some of the questions. Very rarely you can rely
on your intuition. However, knowing latin or any
other european language might be helpful in some cases.
My advice is to learn at least the minimum vocabulary
(about 500 "difficult" words) for GRE.
Take as much practice tests as you can and learn
          from your errors.
The test books are definitely helpful.
You can now get software to practice on your computer,
so you can emulate the real setting.

I would have to go with Prezes, as the English part was quite a sweat.
It is sure helpful to know these 500 most commonly used words but I have
mastered around 2000 and still it caught me off-guard. If I were to go through
it again, I would spend 80% of all my study-time on the vocabulary.
To cheer you up, I will tell you that the average score for American students
if 380 out of 800, which I do not quite comprehend but this are the facts....

      Take care
