BALI BOMB FIRE... an exotic dish?

IP: webcacheH* / *.elephant.dialup.pol.co.uk 13.10.02, 23:55
..not something out of an Indonesian Take-Away menu, but a stage
killing on a scale comparable with a "bread que bombing in
ex-Yugoslavia".
Any thoughts?

Yes, many a thought, though one prevailing: you really have to be quite a
monumental bimbo to to find a human tragedy of such proportions a suitable
      subject of sick humour.

...and that is the sad thing...
These are the kind of headlines you might see trivializing human
tragedies meant to fuel "cocktails" of bad intentions all over the world!
My point, if I really have to justify it and scoop down to the level, is that
nobody gives a monkey, unless the political correctness forces them to
show their "intelectual and moral superiority"...and this is precisely why
this stupidly titled thread is still being contributed to.....why?!
I mean, why can't we discuss the subject like grown-ups instead of
            picking on the words?
I suppose I know the answer here as well.
Because we would not give a **** was it not for the culinary twist...

            Courtesy of "Perk":

"Meanwhile, People First Party legislative leader Shen Chih-hwei (???)
asked the government to assist in the return of Taiwan nationals currently
in Indonesia. She said she would like to commend Premier Yu Shyi-kun
(???) for obtaining advance information on the terrorist attack, but on the
other hand would like to condemn him for not warning the Taiwanese
people to stay away from danger. "

I have to say , it is hard to believe that the other leaders were not aware as
well. This is about creating public pressure.
We hear "Bin Laden" and "al-Qaeda" immediately...and then years later
other shady characters emerge from the then murky and irrelevant past.
The goal has been fulfilled. The means? Never mind.
Now, the 11th Sept has been brought a step closer to Europe via a
rich-kid playground. Bali is somewhat of an up-market Spain equivalent
for a Brit's carefree good times in a cheap exotic location. Not anymore!
There's 15 Brits dead now. Mothers are crying. Tony's gotta burn his
            tongue on this hot curry!
            Let's bomb Saddam!

You are absolutely right - if it weren't for the culinary twist I probably
would not have paid much attention to your thread, having had the news disected
every which way in the media. If that was purely your way of drawing people's
attention then I do remove my accusations. I do agree with most of your
opinions on the subject as it now appears that western and US agencies did
indeed know about the threat but chose to do ziltch. That is assuming that it
really was the case - for all we know they new nothing and the events just
happened to play into the war mongers hands.
It does indeed feel creepy now that the terror feels closer to home. My
daughter (background, by the way, comfortable rather that affluent) spent some
time in Bali in course of her gap year. Some of her friends are there now. It
is to an extend, a cheap paradise for the rich kids to play, which is why it
must have been perceived as a viable target representing western values.
Whoever is responsible ought to be brought to justice but right now are the
cpeoples of the world capable of administering real, objective justice? Remains
              to be seen.
              • Gość: bimbo justice? IP: webcacheH* / *.chameleon.dialup.pol.co.uk 15.10.02, 15:42
No, justice is not the question here. Whatever little scared "osama" will do
the honours and stand in for the "evil unknown" threat to "Western
Democracy" this time, will clearly be a scape-goat.
This was a little probe. After all it is not coincidental that Kuta happens to
be a Hindu enclave. There's more chili in the masala and the measly
                euro-stomach is churning.
This is not a crusade in a Christian or moral sense of the word no more,
this is a cheap and desperate attempt to plant fear closer to home and to
force even the hardest of the sceptics to support the ultimate goal.
Produce, sell, use more weapons. Destroy lives. Take over resourses.
Stay in power. Provide war games for the masses.
During the last episode of the Gulf War, the original one, the first one ever
with the 24hrs global media coverage, the advertising revenues went
                raving mad!
                Better than football!
It is a sick game and I am not falling for it. Don't want to play.
Did you notice how any young adult male with the looks vaguely
non-Caucassian is often discriminated against and presumed guilty by
the mob in any of the European capital cities threatened by terrorism?

Could the reason for it be that, according to the information in public domain,
not many blond/blue eyed hunks have been spotted among Osama supporters. That
is obviously not to say that these characterictics eliminate one from terrorist
                  activities. Coincidence?
Either way, run up to Christmas will be a scary time in western shopping
centers/clubs/bars etc. And that is without/in spite of a war against Iraq. I
am inclined to think that a worldwide action is called for, but a great deal of
                  thinking must happen first.

Personally, I think it's stretching mistrust and contempt just a wee too far.
Power at any price? As much as I despise quite a sizeable bunch of modern day
politicians I believe that at least some of those who really matter do have

should perhaps keep a sharp lookout the "signs"; just in case. here's a lead
for you: Nahum 2: 4 "the chariots shall rage in the streets, they shall jostle
against one another in the broad ways; they shall seem like torches, they shall
run like lightening". meaning: if traffic gets worse, get ready.
