impossible to say without the proper context

sure you're right; it depends on the context, as usual.
i was just looking for something safe in technical matters. Apparently, the men
around here are not here today ;-)

Mix and match on your own:

      Group 1:
      requisite, fitness, ---worthiness, eligibility, competency

      Group 2: requisites, qualification, acceptance,
      requirements, verification, validation

        Thanks, Bert.
How about operating status validation (I know it makes a three-worder, but
        still...?)

          I am not sure...
Usually you validate something to make the something
operational or to give it some desired status (upgrade
its status). E.g., by signing a contract you validate it.
New medical products undergo FDA testing (validation
          process) before marketing.

You could be more specific about the status thing. The
modifier of the status should indicate the kind of status
that will be acquired through the successful validation
process, e.g., active status validation, or operational
status validation, if the alternative status is passive
or non-operational. "Operating" doesn't cut it, I think.
