Just the other day I met a teacher of English in Germany,
she came from Dublin. Her English was perfect as far as I
can judge, without the regional accent or slang I often
met in England, let alone in Scotland.
So you ought to go to Dublin or another part of Ireland
if you strive for a good knowledge of English. Further
advantages: the Irish are Roman Catholics and not
Anglicans, and the relations between England and Ireland
are, at least were similar [not equal!] to those between
Germany and Poland. And don´t forget to taste the Irish
      whisky!

Irish is WHISKEY! & not whisky...

        Very important!

US too: WHISKEY. Irish Gaelic "uisce beathadh", Scottish
Gaelic "uisge beatha", literally translated: "water of life".

          Whisky Irish Distilleries

Bushmills Irish Whiskey - Smooth 80-proof blended Irish
whiskey. A blend of single malt and single graim whiskies.

Cooley Distillery - Independent, Irish owned whiskey
          distillery.

Green Spot Irish Whiskey - Longest running pot still whiskey.

Jameson - The Irish whiskey manufacturer's official site,
with a shop, a sidebeat lounge, and information on the
          history of Jameson.

Preston Drogheda Irish Malt Whiskey - A rare Irish single
          malt whiskey.

          Na zdrowie! Cheers!

I stayed in Dublin for a while and, frankly, there're two things to admire:
      1) Dublin & Liffey view at the sunset from the eastern side (from the harbour)
      2) street crossing at Trinity College.

My tip: two days in Dublin are enough. One day for the city centre, one day for
visiting the suburbs. Go west man, go west - to Galway, Clare...

      Pozdrawiam

What's so "holy" out there?? These weird crowds along "sraids" or this
fantastic smell of urine, junk food going off, etc. around most of places in
          city centre?

Probably we have a different approach to Ireland. I prefer the country...

And what about the islands? Aran for instance (but
            without rain!).

I assume, islands must be OK as well but I've never been on any of the Irish
ones. I saw, however, a hardly visible landscape of Aran from the Clifs of
              Moher:-)) CU
