"Validate a ticket" is a correct form and that's how it is usually written on
any automated machine at any station in the USA. That type of machine was called
"kasownik" in Polish :)

That's wrong either. Ticket check is what a conductor does when you are on
train/tram/bus. If you did not validate the ticked prior to ticket check you
will be fined. Avoid that.
