'their attire' you say? But it's not a matter of their attire, or is it? Hijab is said to be a religous symbol and is to be banned as such. Then is it a religous symbol? Koran doesn't say so, or does it? Oh, well, why don't you read this: www.guardian.co.uk/france/story/0,11882,1105400,00.html Odpowiedz Link Zgłoś
Gość: al as promised IP: *.neoplus.adsl.tpnet.pl 15.12.03, 12:23 Open Letter The biggest bane of our days is an increase of numerous conflicts and cruelties that have religious backgrounds. There are countries where people are publicly executed (beheaded, stoned to death) tortured, crippled (by cutting off their hands). A lot of countries are hotbeds of terrorism and hatchery of fundamentalism, fanaticism and intolerance. Such and similar things cannot happen in XXI century any more. It’s high time to stop it. That means, any religion must be directed to its proper place in any society as each country belonging to the UNO must have a secular constitution. I definitely think that at least the following steps should be taken to achieve it: 1. Ban on exposition of any religious symbols and slogans in public places, military and trade union banners, offices, schools, hospitals, etc. 2. Ban on application of religious slogans and symbols: - on monetary units (In God we trust) - on public buildings - in courts (bible, cross) 3. Ban on participation of clergymen in a religious attire in national holiday celebrations. 4. Ban on moving of processions and pilgrimages in the way that blocks traffic. 5. Ban on too clangorous church bells, too noisy summoning to prayers. 6. Ban on wearing religious attire and symbols by pupils in schools, by clerks, politicians public people (public tv). 7. Ban on prayers in public places (streets, at work etc.). 8. Acknowledgement of civil marriages only. And consequently: I. Membership of all the UNO countries should be reconsidered regarding religious interference with public life. II. Countries that fail to implement new rules (based on secular constitution) within maximum 2-year adaptation period would be expelled from the UNO. Any faith or unbelief belong to the sphere of intimacy of man and not to be flaunting of. Gods need not ads. I’m convinced that it’s the only way to a peaceful coexistence of nations. After reclaiming our independence instead of moving forward into the 21st century we went a hundred years back into the 19th century, and our supposedly secular communist party goes hand in hand with clergy.
