An anti-spam solution

05.09.05, 00:20
Just in case any of you get a funny, "bounce back" message when you write,
I've just started using a new email proxy designed to eliminate the
relentless and burgeoning spam that was previously clogging up my email
(typically 50 a day).

The program I'm trialling is called "Vanquish" ( www.vanquish.com ) and, so
far, I'm pleased to say it's been pretty good: no spam at all!

It's a simple concept that works by allowing a whitelist of all your
contacts to be imported; their email just comes straight through until I
decide otherwise. Any email addresses not on there, it "holds" the mail for
a user-designated period pending its release, which can be a drag with all
the spam, or the sender verifying their ID via a simple one-time opt-in (the
"bounce back"). This protects against automated bulk spammers or "bots".

Interesting feature: it automatically allows you to create disposable email
addresses at your own domain level. No need for a separate sneakemail a/c or
their domain.

Anyway, I'm not going to bore you with the technicalities but it seems
pretty darn good so far just for the mail but it's also got on the fly
anti-virus and "phishing" protection (Nearly 5 stars on download.com).

Did I mention I got ***NO SPAM*** today? Hallelujah.
