Good to have comments from the Portuguese neighbours.

Did you had some contact with "gallego" language?

My Spanish friends say it's quite similar and they don't understand many of
their words.

nooo, I don't know any words in 'gallego' but I try to learn (and I'm pretty
succesful) portuguese and I understand some words in 'catala' because it's
quite similar to portuguese, french and spanish.

I met a Polish girl - Spanish Teacher - who also knows some catala words.

She told me that they say "Bom dia" like Portuguese and "Adeu" (in Portuguese
Adeus)

Quite curious this fact since Portugal is quite far away from Cataluna.

Maybe you're from Łódź? :-)

there's a catalan radio station online, u just gotta go to www.rne.es/envivo.htm
or www.rne.es/index.htm and choose Radio 4; Catalan is really strange,
doesn't sound much like Portuguese, but check it out yourselves, enjoy!

Hello Lubliner

Thank you for your advice, I recall listen to that radio station when
travelling by car from Portugal to Poland and vice-versa.

It's true. It doesn't sound like Portuguese apart from some identical words,
Gallego is the most similar.

I write in English because, unfortunetly, I have serious problems in learning
Polish language - what I speak and write I learned by myself - :-( and English
is the international communication language.

Portuguese is only understandable for a small number of members in this forum.

Enato, e Portugues, de que parte de Portugal? Eu falo um pouco Portugues, mas o
meu Espanhol e melhor, frequentemente uso uma mezcla das duas limbas; trato
Espanhol como uma calqua, con resultados diferentes...y a veces divertidos.
Escreve da viagem de carro de Polonia a Portugal; e o meu sonho ir de carro a
Portugal, como na pelicula Lisbon Story. Desafortunadamente nao tenho ‘driving
licence’, mas algun dia this dream will come true:)
Tenho uma pregunta, me podia dizer que significa ‘Pontinha’ en Portugues? Algo
como ‘point’, ‘little bridge’? Hay algunas outros sentidos?

Sou de Vila Nova de Famalicao (distrito de Braga)

Como sou casado com uma polaca ja viajamos cinco vezes Portugal Polonia, sao
cerca de 3000 km de distancia, e uma viagem formidavel mas tem que ser feita
com calma. Eu e a minha mulher demoreamos em media tres a quatro dias.

Dormimos na Franca e na Belgica mas confesso ser exagerado conduzir uma media
de 1000 km por dia e da proxima vez espero que seja mais demorada a viagem e
aproveitar para visitar os paises que estao no meio dos nossos paises!

Pontinha significa algo muito afiado ou o fim, por exemplo, de um prego.

Pontezinha significa uma pequena ponte.

Percebi tudo o que escreves-te sem problemas.

I've just discovered this forum and found your posts - so, you'r married to a
Polish girl!! What a coincidence - I'm married to a Portugeezer;)). Where do
you live? Poland? Portugal? How's your Polish? Has your wife mastered
Portugese? Unfortunately, I can't speak Portugese, well, just w few words I
picked up during our visits there. Visits, because at the moment we live
EXACTLY half way between Poland and Portugal but I hope one day we'll settle at
the end of the old world...
