English drivers

Hi

I have a short question... From pedestrian point of view, English drivers are very good - they stop before you enter the zebra crossings (in Poland, they don't stop at all very often... so you have to run for your life :/). But if you look closely, you can find that they are using painted roundabouts like a regular junctions - they go straight through the centre of it. Another example - they often give way to other car so it can enter the road... BUT they also use they horns at cars at front of them that are turning at the junction (and braking a bit, so they can safely turn)... ?? Why is that so?

Have you noticed that, in the UK, we use animal names for several
      types of crossings:
ZEBRA CROSSINGS:-where, as you said, drivers must give way to
      pedestrains
PELICAN CROSSINGs:-traffic lights for pedestrains and vehicles
PUFFIN CROSSINGs:-pedestrian lights on near side of road, button
      operated
      TOUCAN CROSSINGs:-for pedestrians and bicycles
      PEGASUS CROSSINGs:-equestrian crossing

Anyway...I think the reason that English drivers sound their horn at
the car in front when it slows down to turn off at a junction is
      pure impatience...:)

      >> like a regular junctions

i would say it is junction like any other

      >>they go straight through the centre of it.

      cos they/we are lazy

      >>BUT they also use they horns at cars at front of them that are
      turning at the junction
