I'm already for 1 year and two months wIthout seeing Portugal, of course I have
saudades, besides I can't buy bacalhau in Poland and if transported by airplane
not onl will be the post man saying "Ale zapach!!! K****! Ten portugalczyk jest
wariat!" as the bacalhau will be dry because of the flight "I wonder if I wrote
          properly imn Polish" :-))

          Toca a comer e beber a fartazana!

The spelling of the Polish part, including the ****, is impeccable (well-

Looong time a go a Portuguese couple were passing frontier from Czechoslovakia
to Austria, back when that frontier divided the two worlds. They had a car and a
            caravan.
The Czech control went "open everything" and they ment everything... looked like
            hours of search...
Then inside the camper they found a plastic bag with bacalhau "What is it??"
they demanded. "Portuguese food" - so they opened the bag to peek and sniff
inside...once they sniffed... they turned green and could only say "close,
            close, go, go, go away!"

I was there already several times. the food is really good (and i can say it,
because since ever my family had restaurants on the south of portugal...).
I especially recommend the Bacalhau com Natas, its great. They have there our
coffee - delta, our desserts, our wine (table wine for 20 Pln for 0.75 ml!!!),
              and even sumol.
On the lunch time during the week, they have special menus like for instances:

              - entrance: pasteis de bacalhau;
              - soup - canja;
              - main course: carne de porco a alentejana.
With coffee and wine for 30 Pln. I think the price is really ggod because a lot
of the food as to come from portugal...

            • portulaco Fedor do bacalhau. 22.08.05, 11:42
When I was studing in Lodz our group decided to rent an apartment, we were 4
Portuguese and two Finish living togheter. After Christmas my collegue Rosa
decided to bring loads of Bacalhau to cook some "Bacalhau-a-Braz" to some
              Polish and Spanish friends.

For those who don't know the bacalhau should stay in the water for at least 24
hours before beeing cooked, the smell realesed by the "animal" during this
period is absolutely terrible, like wrotten water :-)

Whyle Poles found it quite strange and were amused, Spanish found it also
(extrange) and the Finish were completely horrified like those guys in "Blair
              Witch Project".

Anyway Polish people liked a lot and Finish grunted something after the meal so
              we supposed they liked.

I just want to say I had a great time in Macau and excellent experience with
Potugese food. With a little influence of Cantonese flavour). Lovely.
And I love grilled chicken from Nandos. Portugase chain of restaurants in
Australia. Chicken is marinated with african spices.
One of the greatest pleasures from my personal menu.
And I've never been to Portugal. I hope I will one day.

Nando's is Portuguese but via South Africa, it's a franchise chain restaurant
founded by a Portuguese emigrant in South Africa.
