Language, like everything else, is evolving.
And one must speak the language spoken by most.
Otherwise one looks like one is from another era.

So chill out and adapt to the modern English.

        What a bull!
paskudziarstwo, ignoranctwo, wygodnictwo, partactwo, itd. itp. Sa też słowniki
językowe, ortograficzne frazeologiczne, poprawnej polszczyzny, itd. itp.

So maybe you should clean your ears cause that's the way it is and that's the
way it's gonna stay dude. If you don't like it then SCREW YOU. Who cares what
you think anyway. Everybody complains about american language and US itself but
the truth is you all would do anything to get here. What a shame people.

P.S. By the way, where did you hear all that crap that you've mentioned above?
Nobody in US calls high school a secondary school. There's no such thing as

there are some people here who feel threatened by those who use very correct
English; as by comparison their English is unacceptable. Why not let everybody
do what they want to do??

Sorry, but it is AMERICAN English that rules the world. Internet, finances,
business, culture, media - everything. Clasical British English is a lovely
imperial relic on the world scene, great as literary lingo, but otherwise it is
AMERICAN ENGLISH tha counts!!! European Union will not change that.

I think the yankees have always used to take a beating on the language front
for quite some time but right now on a much broader level, American English
warrants the attention of all journalists, politicians, and scholars alike. The
American English rules and Hollywood certainly helps the AmE be the greatest in
the world. It's the language that's truly sought after anywhere you
go...slangwise, idiomwise, pronunciation and everything else. It's the language
              to know and speak.

typu "bloke", "geezer", "mate", "dosh", "ropey", "to gawp at sb", "mash", "to
kip", "duvet", "schtum/shtum", "to nick", " a do", "chuffed", "gutted", "to
fancy", "knackered", "butty", "brolly", "chippie").
Np. obok określenia "to come on to sb" uzya

    • chris-joe Re: In the American way 08.01.05, 17:04
Why the panic!? There were times when Greek, Latin, French, British English
ruled the world in turns. And every language of the day assimilated whole
volumes of vocabulary and phraseology from every one of their predecessors.
Check the American Heritage Dictionary for words and phrases borrowed (and
borrowing still!) from Brit-English alone, and done so with no misgivings, shame
or any form of psychological trauma suffered by the Am-English ego.

Now the Greeks, the French, the Brits bitch about preserving the purity of their
respective languages from americanisation. Only the Romans keep quiet.

So what if it's American English that's having its day? Times they are
achangin'. And always will be :)
      • chris-joe ps. 08.01.05, 17:09
I, for one, still use "shall" in my English (Canadian English, that is).
But then again, I even say "shan't" occasionally! :)))

"Shan't" died with Shakespeare.I'm afraid you will not find a lot of people who
either understand the word or that those who do would find you pretentious in
the extreme and overextending yourself grammatically.
